Sending a Package

When are perishable products shipped?
If no delivery date is selected in your cart, we will ship according to the following
guidelines.  If you need a specific date, we recommend that you select that date in
your cart.  

PLEASE NOTE: Turduckens are generally still frozen when they arrive. Because of
this, they are safe to go back into your freezer.  If you need your product for a
particular event, please take delivery early and place in your freezer till you are ready
to thaw and cook. Allow time for possible shipping delays and/or time for us to get you
another product in the event there is a problem with shipping that may be beyond our

All perishable items take several hours of preparation time for our suppliers to make.
Because of this, they may experience a temporary product shortage during high
demand times of the year. regrets any problems this may cause
and we are working hard to keep this to a minimum.  You will be notified if there is a
problem with your order once we are made aware of it.  Substitutions of equal or better
quality may be made in order to ensure that your order is delivered on time.   Orders
with delivery dates will get a higher priority when orders are being filled.

Be sure to only select one delivery date for your order.  If there are multiple delivery
dates on you order, we will deliver you order on the first date in the cart.

How are frozen products shipped?
All products are packed frozen in an ice chest. The ice chest is packed into cardboard
box for protection. All perishable items are shipped overnight delivery.

PLEASE NOTE:  Failure to select the appropriate shipping will delay the shipment of
your items.  

These orders will be placed on hold until you are contacted and consent to the
extra overnight charges.

What is your Perishable Policy?
If the carrier fails to deliver your package on time and the item is spoiled and it is the
carrier’s fault, we will submit a claim on your behalf from the carrier.  We will issue you
a credit once the carrier submits payment to us for the damaged items.  Please note:
carriers do not consider weather emergencies as their fault.  

If an item is damaged in shipping, you need to notify the carrier or BuyLouisiana within
24 hours of delivery.  We recommend orders to be delivered to your work place to
ensure speedy arrival. is not responsible or liable for incorrect
address or deliveries where the customer is not available to receive their order.  All
Perishable Food orders are final. All perishable orders over $100 will have carrier
insurance added at checkout for $2.25.  This will ensure that you will receive all of your
money back from the carrier in the event of delays caused by them.

Are shipping charges added separately?
For perishable items that do not have the shipping charges added into the price, the
shipping charges will be calculated during checkout.

Non-perishable items are charged a standard shipping rate. This
standard shipping rate is for ground service within the continental United States.
We choose USPS or UPS for ground shipping.  Please call us if you need faster

When will my Non Perishable order ship?
Non-perishable orders will be shipped within 24 hours of receipt of order.  Unless they
are advertised together in a promotional package, non-perishables are not shipped
with perishable items. They will be sent in a separate box.  These items are generally
sent ground due to their weight.

What information do you need to send out a package?
We need a complete street address (with correct zip code, apartment or suite
numbers, spellings of streets) city and a daytime phone number for the recipient.
A business name is needed for all business deliveries.

What if I don't have complete and correct address information?
We must have complete and correct address information to deliver your package.
If we send to an incorrect or incomplete address UPS / FedEx will charge an
additional $10.00. If you need additional assistance please call our customer
service department at 1-877-BUY-LOUI (1-877-289-5684). You can also verify an
address or find out a zip code at

Can I send items to a P.O. Box?
Perishable items – No. UPS nor FedEx will not deliver to a P.O. Box. Both require a
physical street address.  
Non-perishable items – Yes.  These will be sent USPS and can be sent to a P.O. Box.  

Can I personalize my message?
Yes – Your message will be printed exactly like you type them in the comment box
during checkout.  

Can you ship outside of the USA?
No - currently we can only ship within the USA.

Can I ship to Alaska or Hawaii?
Yes, there is an additional shipping charge of $25.00 per package.


What time will the package be delivered?
UPS, USPS, and FedEx generally deliver between 9:00am and 7:00pm. (During the
high peak season delivery time may be earlier or later.) An exact time of delivery
cannot be given.  Contact your local carrier office for a better time estimate.   
Turduckens are more items are shipped FedEx, King Cakes items and Tastes of
Louisiana items are shipped UPS, and all others are shipped USPS.

Will UPS, FedEx, USPS, or call before delivering the
No, it is your responsibility to let the recipient know a package is coming. We
strongly advise this because the package is perishable and needs to be
refrigerated ASAP.

Does someone have to be home to sign for the package?
When sending to a residential address, it is standard practice to leave the
package at the door if no one is home. Please advise the recipient a package is
coming and to be on the lookout. If the recipient is not home, UPS and FedEx
will typically leave the package at the front door.
If you live in an apartment, neither UPS nor FedEx will leave a package at an
apartment door.  You may leave a note on the door to leave package with someone
else or to have it delivered to the apartment manager.

What if the Courier cannot leave the package at the door without a signature?
If the recipient has a signature required order on file with UPS or FedEx, the courier will
take the package back to the UPS or FedEx Station and it will be the recipient's
responsibility to pick it up or schedule a redelivery. is not
responsible for packages that do not get delivered because of this.  If you feel it is an
error with the courier, we will try and file a claim with the carrier on your behalf.
